Engraving Your Logo on Corporate Gifts – Dos and Don'ts: Let Your Brand Be Remembered for Its Refinement

Engraving your logo on corporate gifts – dos and don'ts

Some gifts impress the recipient at first glance. Others are loved more the longer they are used. The difference sometimes lies not in the value of the gift, but in the way the brand appears on it.

A signing pen or a wooden gift box with a finely laser-engraved logo. A thermal flask that carries the company's mark just enough to be recognised. Or a premium gift box with an elegantly hot-foil-stamped emblem on art paper with silk-finish lamination. Each can become a silent brand ambassador. From the viewpoint of a corporate gift consultant, Trí Ân Gift believes: a logo is not only a sign of identity – shown the right way, it is the brand's signature on a gift of gratitude.

1. Why should a company put its logo on its gifts?

  • Raise brand recognition naturally: the recipient uses the gift because it is useful, likes it because it is beautiful, and gradually remembers the brand through everyday repeated contact, without ever feeling that it is being pushed on them.
  • Show professionalism and polish: a logo handled in the right proportion, placed sensibly and blended with the box material and colours shows the giver's exacting standards and respect for partners and clients.
  • Leave a distinctive mark and raise perceived value: personalising with a logo, a message or the recipient's name lifts a gift out of the mass-market feel and creates a deeper link between the gift and the brand.

2. Five DOs when engraving or printing a logo on a gift

DO 1: Choose a method that suits the material

For a logo to look good, last and keep the spirit of the brand, the company needs to choose its processing technique according to the product's surface:

  • Laser engraving: suits wooden gift boxes, metal items (signing pens, thermal flasks) and handicrafts. Crisp lines, permanent, with a modern, minimalist beauty.
  • Hot-foil stamping (single-colour and 7-colour): creates a luxurious metallic effect that catches the light on art paper, rigid board and premium Tết and corporate gift boxes.
  • UV printing: shows a wide range of colours and sharp detail on compatible surfaces, ideal when the brand's signature colours must be kept exactly.
  • Embossing and debossing: creates a finely textured surface on premium gift boxes, notebook covers and leather products.
  • Screen printing or embroidery: used on fabric surfaces, accessory bags or materials of a suitable shape.

DO 2: Put harmony between the logo and the product first

A useful rule: the logo should be clear enough to be recognised, but should not overpower the function and natural beauty of the gift. Its size needs careful thought, based on the shape of the product, the visual space around it, the usual viewing distance and who will receive the gift.

DO 3: Follow your brand guidelines

Keep the shape, proportions, colours and spacing between the elements of the logo consistent. Do not stretch the logo or change its typeface on a whim. When laser-engraving or embossing on special materials, converting from a colour logo to a single-colour version must follow your brand guidelines.

DO 4: Personalise for each group of recipients

  • For employee gifts: favour a clear logo, a youthful design and consistency across the whole programme.
  • For loyal client gifts: balance brand recognition against the usefulness of the product.
  • For senior partner (VIP) gifts: keep the logo subtle on the lid of the box, combined with premium materials (wooden boxes, brocade-covered boxes, handwoven rattan) and a personalised card of thanks.

DO 5: Approve a real sample before mass production

A design on screen can look wonderful, but in real processing it is affected by surface curvature, wood grain, the brocade layer or the contrast of the material. At Trí Ân Gift, for quantity production orders we always send a real sample to the client's office to check the position, sharpness and durability of the logo before the full run.

3. Six DON'Ts when putting a logo on a gift

  • DON'T 1 – Engrave a logo so large that it takes over the product: an oversized logo makes the gift look like a promotional item rather than a gift of thanks, and takes away its natural elegance.
  • DON'T 2 – Place the logo somewhere awkward or unattractive: avoid spots that fingers cover when holding a pen, positions distorted by the curve of a flask, or a logo so close to the edge of a box that it has no room to breathe.
  • DON'T 3 – Pick a method only because it is cheap: a technique that does not suit the material will leave the logo blurred or peeling, causing rework costs and delaying delivery of the gifts.
  • DON'T 4 – Combine too many colours and busy effects: the elegance of a premium gift always comes from using colour with intent and keeping valuable visual space empty.
  • DON'T 5 – Turn the gift into a billboard: putting a big logo, a slogan, a phone number and advertising copy on every face of the box destroys the recipient's feeling of being valued.
  • DON'T 6 – Ignore brand guidelines and logo usage rights: never use a low-quality logo file or an outdated version, and never alter a partner's emblem on your own when making a co-branded gift.

4. An 8-step checklist before you approve a logo for a gift

  • 1. Design file: confirmed the correct high-quality original logo file and the correct identity version.
  • 2. Size & position: settled a balanced proportion and position for the logo on the product or gift box.
  • 3. Processing technique: chosen a method (laser engraving, hot-foil stamping, UV printing, embossing) that suits the material.
  • 4. Sharpness: checked the clarity, contrast and legibility of small details.
  • 5. Harmony: balanced the level of brand recognition against the natural beauty of the gift.
  • 6. Real sample: signed off a real sample before releasing mass production.
  • 7. Schedule & quantity: agreed the quality standard, quantity and delivery schedule in the contract.
  • 8. Consistency: checked that the gift inside, the outer box and the accompanying card all match.
